Our Graduate Rotation Program is a 12-month immersive experience designed for new college graduates who are interested in developing a career in the mortgage industry with an emphasis on finance. Each participant, known as associates, delves into the organization by rotating across key areas of the field. Upon completion, associates are placed into a role that best fits their talents and allows for creative thinking and leadership.
Current rotation member Steven Barrera shares his experience in the program and what he is most looking forward to.
Steven’s story
The culture here at Mr. Cooper is like no other! Everyone, and I mean everyone, is willing to help you out and point you in the right direction. I remember my first day. I was extremely nervous about starting a new position, but everybody from the program director to the orientation leads helped guide me. When Mr. Cooper talks about how “happy employees make happy customers” they don’t say that lightly. They mean it! This shows why they are a Great Place to Work-CertifiedTM business.
Being a rotational associate, I’ve been given the opportunity to work with some highly intellectual individuals. I got a lot of hands-on experience on a range of projects as well as key knowledge to take with me wherever I go. I started to realize over time that no matter the title, everyone is willing to give you a helping hand.
Coming full circle
Working within the finance bubble here has really shown me how Mr. Cooper operates as a business and what working in the mortgage industry is like. I have always enjoyed real estate, so working in this has been a fascinating role so far. Also, the way Mr. Cooper does business really shows why they have such a loyal customer base and is why it will continue to grow.
These past eight months have been a small portion of my experience, and I can’t wait to start my next rotation to better understand where my talents fit within the company! I can’t say this enough; I am so thankful to Mr. Cooper for giving me this opportunity to grow and gain experience. All the knowledge I have obtained will stay with me for years to come!
