My name is Kaitlyn Kurtz and I’m an undergraduate co-op on our creative team! My summer internship with Mr. Cooper Group was eventful, to say the least. I had an incredible opportunity to create the brand for the Mr. Cooper Group internship program, Homegrown!
The creative process
Overall, I really loved the process of creating the feel/tone of the internship program. The internship is an extension of Mr. Cooper, so it had to reflect the company overall while also setting itself apart and marketing to a younger demographic. I loved the challenge of testing how far I could push the branding while remaining authentic to the essence of Mr. Cooper.
The most important thing that I have learned from this experience is KEEP. YOUR. FILES. ORGANIZED. It may seem like a small thing, but when designing and sharing files with others it makes your life a whole lot easier in the end. I was not in the habit of this prior because in school I design alone. However, in collaborative organization, this is essential.
From internship to co-op
At the end of my internship, I was offered to stay on for the fall as a co-op and continue pushing out content for University Relations recruiting. Additionally, my manager is great at allowing me flexibility with school which can be difficult to find most places!
Lessons learned
As an intern at Mr. Cooper, I was treated as a valued member of the team. My coworkers genuinely take interest in my work and are willing to help me out when I need it. Additionally, when I have had the opportunity to interact with different departments, they are friendly, welcoming, and excited to hear what I do. It truly is the people who really make Mr. Cooper a great place to work!
